One of the great joys in my life is being able to do design work, and I'm so fortunate to have been able to be creative as my job since 2017. Having started my career in print design, I've been extremely lucky to be able to adapt those skills into package and toy design. Through my current employer, Excell Brands, I've had the opportunity to design for a number of different clients and licenses, including Marvel, Spongebob, Pokémon, Disney, and Star Wars.
At the same time, I've had the pleasure of working with my own clients through freelance work. My clients come to me with a lot of passion for their ideas, and the joy of graphic design for me comes when I'm able to translate their vague ideas into a visual language that matches the hard work they put into their business. From choreography consultation, mascots for a local baseball park, and branding for an Iowan high-end florist and perfumer, the range of work is what makes my job so much fun.
The variety of projects I handle day-to-day is a luxury. I've designed brochures, business cards, book covers, product photobooks, Powerpoint presentations, packaging, toys, plush, logos, style guides—and I'm lucky to report that I did indeed design my own wedding invitations. My wife even liked them, which doesn't carry as much weight on my resume as I feel it should.
Feel free to drop me a line, I'd love to see what we can make together.
